The thing I think is fishy is the whole “oh it has a check engine light but it doesn’t need be checked. I have an extra computer that will resolve that but have not installed it.” Gimme a break. You have an extra ecu to resolve the issue but haven’t taken the 30 minutes to swap it.

This thing has been a problem child during smog tests. There are a lot of suspect tests - “A” = Aborted, meaning the technician aborted the test for some reason, “T” means the technician has reported the emissions system has been Tampered with, “F” = fail.

It’s not the typo. It’s being unaware of it for hours and not noticing the low revenues coming in.

Shell doesn’t care, they’re getting paid for their gas.  It’s whomever owns the station who’s out the $16k.

If I do, I won’t blame capitalism....I will just blame myself.

I was talking to a person who worked the ramp at an airport. They recounted a story of another employee driving a forklift and “bumping” the plane.

I hate to post in support of someone who seems to follow Ayn Rand, but in the USSR mistakes were often treated as intentional sabotage as the leadership tried to explain away all production related issues as the result of saboteurs. Here, you are unlikely to get even fired from a government job unless you really suck

Something tells me not noticing for hours and then paying so little attention to the huuuge influx in customers and continuing to not notice was the thing that did him in.

It’s not Shell corporate that pays him.

The people who already bought the fuel, paid and left?  No, they can’t charge them.

I take it you've never been to a gas station that wasn't a QT or Bucc-ees, there are tops, 2 employees working at any given time, sometimes just 1. Between lotto, scratch offs, smokes, icees, etc, they likely didn't notice given they didn't have to interact with any customer there just for gas, unless you had someone

if the owner cared about their business, they should have paid more attention.

He’s not in a union, they can fire him for almost anything. And he deserves to be fired in this case.In New Jersey this wouldn’t happen because the people pumping gas would have told the manager.

Pretty sure they can’t charge the customer again with a higher price that was NOT listed on the pump or sign at the time of the transaction.

“It’s incredibly sad that so much responsibility can be put on someone who, let’s face it, didn’t make much money as the manager of a Shell station. Szczecina is really getting screwed by capitalism coming and going.”

16 grand mistake? HAH.

“It was several hours before anyone realized the mistake.”

“It was several hours before anyone realized the mistake”

The only thing I can figure is that where I live, random gas stations will occasionally get very busy on days that I wouldn’t expect, sometimes because it’s a school holiday and everybody’s going somewhere, or the next nearest gas station is closed for some reason, etc. With most people (probably?) paying at the pump,

Szczecina is really getting screwed by capitalism coming and going
