Not that it's nifty to go around slicing fuel hoses, but fuel needs both a particular air to fuel mixture, a heat source as well as a continual source of fuel to keep burning.

They have the benefit of gear reduction at wheel and clearance and...that's it as far as I can work out. Cool as all get out though.
