While the shooting mechanics in Borderlands have never been exemplery, the crazy and unrealistic weapon design work very well in their world. Empty the clip of your shotgun, then throw the shotgun at the enemy: mmmm.

Personally, I prefer the thrill of always getting a better weapon compared to just upgrading the same weapon over and over again. Plus, comparing the drop rates of legendaries in Borderlands to Exotics in Destiny, you will get more legendaries in the same amount of time played compared to Destiny
