That decision is only in cases where the employee(s) have signed agreements to arbitrate their claims. If they never signed an arbitration agreement, they’re still good to bring class action claims in court. The SCOTUS decision basically means though that every single non-union private employer who never used

This part threw me but I’m too lazy to go look at the original records at this moment. Why is he saying he was acquitted when he received probation? You don’t receive punishment like probation if you’re actually acquitted...

I was annoyed that my husband didn’t go through the steps needed to vote in this election given the stakes but he said it is fairly onerous. Do you know how much of a hassle it is to vote from the US?

Don’t feed the troll.

That may have been true where you got married but I don’t think it’s necessarily true for the entire country overall. Further, there are several parts of the country that almost have more American ex-pats than actual Ticos so it’s fairly easy to live there without speaking Spanish.

Wait, has it been confirmed that it is ending?? I missed this! Very sad to lose the show but, yes, happy for Gina Rodriguez who is incredible.

Thank you! And it sounds like you had a very thoughtful approach to law school admissions which I really appreciate even if you’re no longer in that line of work. I have a friend applying in the fall whose undergrad GPA is horrendous because she was going through horrible things with her family life and was basically

I worked for several years and am now in law school (I graduate in May!). Until I get several years of experience, it is standard to list GPAs on our resumes so people don’t have to ask.

She asked for California law to apply instead of Hawaii law because Ratner resides in California, “all of his alleged injury occurred in California,” and all of the events in her allegedly defamatory FB post occurred in California.

I read the linked article on Variety which is only marginally more informative but it seems like they’re not in the regular discovery part of the case. This appears to be an attempt to take her deposition during the limited discovery they get to fight her motion to dismiss it under the anti-SLAPP law so they can show

It’s a civil case, not a criminal case. The Sixth Amendment applies to criminal prosecutions. There may be case law around comparable rights in civil cases but I don’t think they rise to the level of being constitutionally protected.

If they don’t have a legit reason for denying it (security concerns, a conflicting event that day, etc) and have approved other parades who correctly filed, isn’t this a First Amendment violation?

In re: questions about how he is funding the lawsuit. The firm he is using looks like a fairly new solo practitioner. He got his J.D. in 2012 and opened his own firm in 2016. The fact that Glaser isn’t going with one of the big name firms seems significant to me... likely much cheaper rates but also maybe someone he

Getting some flashbacks to when I wrote a semi-satirical article in high school for the school paper about how bad high school students were at spelling, purposely spelled one word wrong in each sentence in ways that got progressively more obvious and over-the-top as the article went on, and misspelled every single

“because I keep the fucking door open”

Thank you so much for this response! And thanks for doing this (very, very difficult) work.

Hey, not to hijack your comment but quick question. I used to work with victims of SA and my sister is a psychologist so we have talked several times about how to respect the sexual autonomy of people with severe intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, how to avoid infantilizing them, etc while still making

I completely forgot about Paris Hilton. He is absolute trash.

I remember Willa Ford accusing him of domestic violence when they were dating and how thoroughly she was trashed to pieces for it by his fans. I read some of her statements and haven’t liked him since. You’re right... he has a shitty vibe and so many people are determined to ignore it.

I wish this information was known more widely. So many people just assume anyone can just apply for residency and it’ll happen for them eventually if they follow the rules and wait their turn. The reality of our immigration system is so starkly different from the general public’s understanding of it. I would hope that
