Right? I'm about to start Billy Bathgate. Have you read Book of Daniel? Damn. Some great stuff about the American socialist/communist movement. And of course Ragtime. That book's version of J.P. Morgan is one of the most compelling characters I have ever read in fiction, and his appearance is so short!

Agree! That backstory is thoroughly established. There is no artistic reason for going back.

Looks like there are some scenes showing the empire actually being cruel. We've seen the Alderan war crime, but I don't think the films have every explicitly shown or explained why a rebellion is happening.
