Bingo. In addition, making fun of everybody doesn’t mean the show has no morals or doesn’t take a stand on anything. It’s taken quite a few blunt stands over the years.

They’re never going to say anything positive about a politician or party, but their treatment of Trump leaves little doubt which side they think is the greater of two evils. (It’s Trump.) Also, while it’s not as consistent as it used to be, it’s still pretty funny.

I now want to see a racing series where every team is given the same model car and 2 hours before the race to simplify and add lightness (allowing for safety features, everyone gets the same roll cage...) and then they race.

Nobody cares about Big L :(

Only about 10% of Haitians practice Voodoo. I don’t think most have ‘contempt’ towards Haitians, considering they are dedicating their lives to helping them....

Lol they gave you exactly what you asked for, and dismissed them immediately as racist, convenient.

This world wasn’t always about black vs. white, but over centuries it merely evolved into a racism dilemma. I truly believe we all have religion to thank for the horrors of human history. What began eons ago had morphed into something even more malicious. You speak of Haiti as if it’s the only nation that’s

Just a question, the continuous stereotyping of white people as stupid yokels that an entire race should make fun of on their blog is something other than racism or...?

Sri Lankans aren’t white, you fucking moron.

Gawker Media is being predictably depressing about Terry Gilliam’s completely legitimate opinion on BBC’s racism.

So do you think that the cast of MP took applications and denied admission to POC? This criticism of Monty Python for being “white” is preposterous. What matters is that they were funny and groundbreaking. Could they be funnier if they were comprised of POCs? Such silly speculative history. Like, maybe The Beatles

There is a small and important kernel of truth in what Gilliam said, though he said it in the worst possible way. Here’s one potential way he could have said it: “Look, I understand his point and it’s important. Different voices need to be heard in comedy. In fact, that’s the only way comedy will continue to be

Right, because they understand how economics work.

Just because he has money does not mean he knows how to run the country. My family runs a multi million dollar company, Do I think my family could also run the country? No, those are different things. It is amazing to me how people think just because you can make money in ONE industry then you can also run another?

I don’t think Trump can file for bankruptcy protection for the country.

Well, you’re missing out on some key details: one, it worked. The gas station got a ton of business (and I’m sure the publicity from the show didn’t hurt). The majority of the places he “helps” actually do get more business, the solution is just too impractical or too weird for them to want to continue. And two, they

Yeah, the times the regular people end up the butt of the jokes tend to be stuff like the urine thing. Nathan didn’t really prompt or fish for that, the guy just...said it. On his own. On camera.  He would have done that regardless of if the show was a comedy or not.

Nah...prank shows have a “gotcha” moment. That isn’t really what this is (with a few exceptions). The people he interacts with go along with him of their own free will...he comes in and pitches a ridiculous idea, and they just begrudgingly go along with it.

I think it helps that the dupe isn’t that large. They’re going on a show that’s aimed at helping their business, which is something the show does. Nathan never attempts to sabotage them and the majority of the time the scheme works and they get a boost in business. Obviously they don’t really know that it’s a comedy
