I see what you did there.
I see what you did there.
The "this black actress isn't black enough to play this black singer" argument is still more racist than casting Saldana in the first place.
Kara, Nina's story is not your story. You can't co-opt someone else's story as your own just because they happen to be the same race as you.
It's almost, ALMOST, as if they treat movie making as a business and wanted a name actress to maximise the chances of their movie making money as opposed to losing money.
If I was to pen an article about dildos representing the objectification of men, it would be every bit as silly as this article.
Half of those Twitter posts are doing the exact same thing that you're criticising this guy for doing.
The worrying thing is that I'm not sure if this is an April Fools post or not...
Inflammatory post is inflammatory.
Your determination to take something that has absolutely nothing to do with gender and paint it as something that's fundamentally sexist is almost admirable.
Where do you stand on atheists using elements of the bible in fiction?
Some times, when I run out of things to pretend to be offended by, I'm thankful for Jezebel reporting (and some times kickstarting) this stuff.
“Is cheese sexist?" Congrats Jezebel, you've outdone yourself.
I really wanted to like this but it looks so bad. Like they’ve copied all the obvious beats from the original but neglected to give the actors anything funny to say and tried to compensate for that by throwing literally all the CGI at the problem.
Christ wept. You know what's more racist than casting a white actor in a black role? Arguing that a black actress "isn't black enough" for that role.
Could they not club together and buy out her contract?
If we're gonna play the Baseless Conjecture Game though, couldn't we argue that Kesha fits the profile of someone who wants out of her contract and has proven that she'd lie in court to achieve that?
“Journalism"
The hypocrisy espoused on Jezebel these days is... entirely expected.
Somebody's words were taken out of context and sites like this one ran with them as the focal point of some moral outrage? I for one, am absolutely shocked.
I preferred this article under its original title: The Day We Ran Out Of Things To Be Offended By.
