Well, nobody might actively think that, but if people are exposed enough to very minor science facts on a regular basis then our general acceptance of it may increase and we might be more trusting of very important science facts that are affecting our health and the future of our society. But we may have to agree to

Yeah I actually don’t know enough (or have forgotten) the details, I should probably read up on them, especially considering the otherwise very high opinion I have about him.

This is so sad.

This is actually an interesting discussion in the splinter comments section, which is shocking.

I think you’re missing the point. The snowflake fact might not be relevant, but the larger picture that “Reading this fact from NGD might be the only time all week that many people think about science” still holds. Hell, most people can’t even name one living scientist; NGD might be the most well-known!

I agree that NGD will not single-handedly cure ignorance. But if he can make a tiny dent then it’s worth the thirty seconds it took to tweet and definitely not deserving of a left-wing blog that generally advocates for climate science taking him to task over it.

Yup, no argument here.

Hard disagree. This country is woefully uninformed about science, and that leads to the anti-vaccination movement and climate change denials, among many other problems. NDT is obviously being pedantic with this, but it draws attention to being informed and accurate about representation of physics principles.

As the customer, given that they offered to make the meal up on the spot, I would have negotiated to get the price a little lower. Doesn’t hurt to ask!

“Truckload of people” actually doesn’t sound like that many people to be honest.

I like how Cummings proposes that McAleenan accompany him on a visit to one of the concentration camps (paraphrasing). When AOC goes down there, she’s called a liar for reporting what she sees; when Pence goes down there, he lies about it himself.

There’s no reasoning or discussion anymore. There’s just beating them in the next election

Yeah, but can you imagine her as President?

I have a one year old daughter and these four women are the main reason I have some hope that I didn’t make a horrible mistake bringing her into this world.

Doesn’t Rep Lucy Grey mean she COULDN’T care less? Because if she ‘could care less’, it means she cares to some degree.

Not trying to defend Paltrow or anything, but I’m terrible with faces, and can meet someone I work with (on our site of about 300 people) four times over the course of a year and still have no idea who they are the fifth time. I empathize with anyone else who has this problem and would hate be called out on it to a

Sounds like a situation that would be greatly enhanced if someone went down there with a fan water-mister diluted with LSD to ‘cool people off’.

Fortunately, the people who actively seek out the Washington Post fact checking column are going to overwhelmingly vote for the Democratic nominee. Also, the number of those people is three figures or fewer.

And if those five states hadn’t successfully disenfranchised so many other would-be Clinton voters, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

While I think this is probably outside of the top 20 worst things the President has done, it’s probably the best one to throw at people who support the President and also claim to ‘love the Constitution’ (mostly gun nuts).
