It’s the framing. This story was misreported, including by Jezebel, in the first place to make it sound like Disney/Guy Ritchie were struggling to find actors to audition. The majority of those articles took no issue with the concept of auditioning Indian actors and instead name checked Dev Patel/Riz Ahmed

Given that in half the country they seemingly don’t want you if you’re not white and in the other half of the country being white is seemingly becoming akin to being satan, I’d say we’re pretty close.

Of particular concern was the widely reported news that Disney was looking for either Middle Eastern or South Asian actors—as if the two were interchangeable.

So to make things statistically representative the breakdown should be as follows for a year:

Let’s start here:

The fact that it has to be the Democrats to deliver it. Our party can’t find it’s own ass with both hands and a map. We’re going to LOSE seats in 2018, mark my words.

“That message is being worked on. We’re doing everything we can to simplify it, but at the same time provide the meat ...”

I was hoping for something more like this.

My Altima is full of eels.

And more better.

I kind of just want to import an average Renault to the States, and just drive it around for the questions.

A very cautious NP.

Yes to everything! Thank you! You put it far better than I could. I relate to the Elementary characters...they seem far more real than Sherlock. Elementary’s treatment of Sherlock’s addiction feels quite real. Joan & Sherlock’s friendship & work relationship is refreshing. I just really thoroughly enjoy it! I first

I wanted to give a shout-out for the excellent and ongoing CBS series Elementary. As I read in a comment in another thread recently, it’s what the BBC Sherlock could have been with really good writing that cares about the mysteries and doesn’t hate POC, women or LGBTQ. There are actors representing characters with

Hate hate hate Aziz Ansari. For someone who complains endlessly about being denied opportunities he’s on the top10 list for shitty celebrities who constantly get gigs despite having no talent.

HRRRRMMMMM. If only there were a subcontinent, maybe with say, over a billion people, that also had a booming international film industry—one that was known for musicals!

Why is an Indian guy ok for the role? If an Indian is ok, why not just pick up Spanish actor? They probably have more in common, genetically with an Arab actor than an Indian...

I heard somewhere that it has to do with ensuring copyrights stand and don’t expire. I can’t seem to find the article now, and I don’t know enough about copyright law, but I do know Disney is obsessed with copyrights and they are one of the reasons we’re in the current mess with are with ridiculously long copyrights.

As talented as I’m sure these three actors are, *none* of them can pass as a teenager. That’s a dealbreaker in my mind.
