I owned one. 2012 with a stick. It was a lease and I rather enjoyed it. The old Passats were much better and I’m well aware the European Passat is better. We can’t buy an old Passat new or a euro spec one so would you rather drive a Camry? I just think its one of the better midsize sedan offerings in the US. That

I had a 2012, first year of the new style. Mine was a stick, which made a huge difference in personality. I have driven autos and I would agree it was pretty boring.

Its certainly a bland car, and I the one I owned was nothing like previous Passats, but overall it still felt like a VW. They built what Americans wanted, unfortunately that’s why its such a vanilla car. This segment of vehicle is pretty doomed anyways as crossovers take over.

Honda does build excellent cars. Nice that they still offer a manual trans too being that they decided to go with that terrible CVT.

I would love a new Golf sportwagon, seems like a great car. I would agree it’s hard to believe the Passat comes from the same company. I’m not saying its a great car, but if I were forced to drive a regular midsize sedan I would probably choose the Passat over the other choices out there.

Not even remotely a reasonable comparison. If you have $40k to spend no one is looking at regular midsize sedans. I would prefer one myself if they sold for $25k.

Certainly not boring at all, but I imagine its going to cost at least $35k. For that kind of money I would be buying something else.

I like the Fusion, although its also a little bland to drive. I leased a 12 Passat with a stick, it was boring to look at but was still fun to drive and had a German feel despite being pretty cheap inside. I’ve driven every other car in the segment and only really liked the Mazda. I personally like the look of the

Why all the Passat hate? Which midsize sedan would you prefer? Only the Mazda 6 comes to mind, this market segment is just boring. I would still prefer the German feel to a Camry.

You are completely out of touch with reality.

The ultimate Bro-Dozer has arrived! The gym parking lot will never be the same!

In all honesty most PTs start falling apart right around 50,000 miles. Just because an engine and transmission is ok, doesn’t mean the tin can surrounding it has any integrity. And to answer your question most Japanese cars rarely need much work until around 100k. Chrysler has pretty much always made the worst

Alright bud, being that I repair cars for a living I’ve driven more PT Losers than I can count. The reason being is that they are shit vehicles in the shop constantly having every suspension component replaced along with every other common malady. I would agree on the Avenger, what a pile that is.

While the idea of putting it into service position for simple jobs like a serpentine belt is annoying, once you take the front clip off the amount of access allowed makes everything in the front of the vehicle much easier to work on than say a normal vehicle without this feature.

She does get around.

It’s not about difficulty. It’s the people that own them and generally they are in shit condition. Audi’s service position is easily one of the most user friendly concepts ever. Nothing difficult about it.

I guess you’ve never met my ex girlfriend.

I’m just messing with you I didn’t mean it seriously. I’m in the auto repair business and seeing a PT cruiser come into the shop makes me cringe. As far as any cars to hate on from my stable.... Impossible! I’ve only owned Ferrari’s, lol.

Your justification of PT Loser ownership makes me wonder what “nicer” stuff you have in your car fleet.

Just because you made the mistake of owning one doesn’t change the fact that the hate is justified for this terrible black sheep of the automotive world. You should reconsider all of your life choices.
