To be fair they were in field goal range with that catch. He would have been tackled or went out just inside the 35, which makes it ~50 yard field goal. Very makeable field goal in a dome.

Really not too upset with embiid and Simmons. Embiid has the ceiling of the best big in the league. Simmons is already an all star quality player and one of the best defending point guards in the league. Fultz forgetting how to shoot is troubling, but he’s 19 and has a couple years to figure it out. Also we have the…
The second one? The goal was to hit it really hard at a player and have t bounce off him, not kick it like a normal onside kick. So I kinda understand how it ended up looking so bad.
Also I love how his math adds up to an extra 20% chance. It’s like 5-10% chance when teams know it’s coming and it’s not extra, it’s a lesser chance of getting the ball back by a large margin.
The onside kick was absolutely there wrong call. You have a much higher chance of forcing a 3 and out in a known running situation than recovering an onside kick when the other team is ready for it. And the defense did force a 3 and out that resulted in a field goal instead of a punt.
No way that was the right call. 2 timeouts and the 2 minute warning on your side. The % chance of getting a 3 and out in know running situations is statistically significantly greater than recovering an onside kick that the opponent knows is coming. By like, a lot.
Tomlin is entirely responsible for that loss. Bad decisions throughout the game culminating in trying an onside kick with over 2 minutes left and 2 timeouts. The decision looks even worse because the defense did its job and got a 3 and out, which ended in a field goal instead of a punt. Fwiw I have no horse in this…
I.....I don’t think you understood Camus’ points very well. Absurdism is not nihilism. Existentialism is not nihilism.
I’m not going to argue that. I’m going to assert that they still called the worst possible play for that situation. A run or a playaction bootleg are the smart calls. Shit even a fade would have been fine. You only call the inside slant on 4th down though, it’s too risky of a play when you have 2 more after it.
That’s a completely fine conclusion to make. Then the logical playcalling would be run on second and timeout. Playaction or naked bookleg to give the qb as many options as possible and to stop the clock. Then you call anything on 4th, inside slants included. They just used zero logic in heir decision making and that’s…
The article that we’re commenting on literally talks about porzingis’ early season MVP form.
Embiids assist to turnover ratio is 0.83. Porzingis ratio is 0.55. Its easy to not turn the ball over when you don’t even think about passing and take contested mid rangers right away.
You run up the gut on 2nd. Timeout. 20+ seconds left. 2rd down you can run a bootleg or a sweep or a toss. You could absolutely have the ball spotted and be lined up in 15 seconds.
Don’t forget they had a timeout and 26 seconds on the clock. A running play was just as good of a call.
I already explained that the inside slant was the problem. But yes they did have time to run three times if they so chose. 26 seconds. 1 timeout. Average run play that doesn’t gain the necessary yards for the score would be about 4 seconds. Timeout. 20 seconds left. You can absolutely run the ball and get lined up for…
They had a timeout. Run on 2nd. Timeout. Run play takes a few seconds, so there are about 21 seconds left. You’re telling me you can’t run the ball once and get to the line to snap it again in 20 seconds?
I’m going to say something crazy here, but stick with me until the end. Porzingis is overrated. I think he is a very very good to great player right now, but people acting like he is anywhere near a legit MVP level player are completely misguided. I do believe he will develop into an MVP level player in the future and…
F you and your “God”
They had a timeout left and that was 2nd down. 26 seconds with a timeout is enough time for 3 run plays. It was the worst play call of all time. Call that play on 4th down. I’d still prefer a bootleg (maybe playaction) that gives Wilson options and time.
Dude, there were 26 second left on 2nd and goal. That’s arguably enough time to run the ball three times, if not you can pass on 3rd and run again 4th. And if you do decide to pass, that is still literally the worst possible play call for a pass. It’s 2nd down! Run a low risk play! Throw a fade. Play action boot and…
