I was a fan of Chelsea Lately and enjoyed her drunken bitch persona. I never actually believed that she was as drunk as claimed to be. She’s obviously very savvy, levering a half hour talk show into a multimillion dollar Netflix deal that gives her creative control.

Oh it’s unquestionably an act. She is clearly a very competent businesswoman.

Really, a show like this doesn’t need a showrunner. I mean sure, it helps, but Chelsea seems like she’s got it together enough to do double duty as host and showrunner. It’s not like she is working on a fast-paced drama with a complex plot. It’s a talk show. The formula has been there since television began.
