I honestly do not understand why this ISN’T their model.
Ok, let’s not assume that then. Let’s pretend that it’s a brand new racing series, and everyone is starting from zero next year. Some last minute changes have happened to the regulations before the first season ever happens and there is a new required part that only 3 teams get to test with and no one else does, and…
^^This. I always shake my head when people say x car is boring. If any car is boring, your lackluster road options are probably the issue, in which case all cars are boring.
“Rich get richer” isn’t just a commentary about how successful people/teams continue to be successful. It also is referring to situations like this where, even assuming an equal level of effort and consistency, those in the lead will almost literally be handed an advantage that they don’t need as badly as someone else.
Based on evidence I have right now (see none) ZerO sometimes clicks on things is a pedo.
“opinions” were based on the information available at the time
Wow, star for you for being willfully obtuse. That is not the only wreck that has ever happened at the Nurburgring, and Nissan is not the only marque that has ever had a wreck at any track ever. The point is even for OEM’s and race teams with tons of preparation, things can go catastrophically wrong. The timing of and…
The potential exists for the car to fly off of the wheels. Google “nurburgring gtr crash” if you don’t know what I’m talking about.
Preparation like Porsche wasting time developing a 2-speed transmission and LSD for an EV when what they should have done is just add a motor? If they learned more about EVs instead of try to apply their vast ICE experience, they wouldn’t be getting mocked right now by Tesla.
Maybe they could work out a trade.... Tax attorney sponsor!
Also, before I get roasted for this suggestion over maintenance costs, go back and look at Orlove and Torch’s suggestions and tell me I’m wrong.
You guys suck at this game. Here’s a Mercedes CLS550 w/ AWD for $28,950
Ah, a very fair point and might very well be the actual intended configuration. I hadn’t thought that far into it.
If they were really smart, there would be another motor on the engine and it would do regen, especially on upshifts. At that point, you could use it as an engine brake to help rev match quicker and more precisely. It could also replace the starter motor then.... weight savings!
That small fill between shifts might be enough to make back the weight penalty.
Or maybe they just don’t, and you have no electric power till you’ve driven a bit if you’ve parked it for more than a couple of hours.
Which coincidentally was also designed by Ben Bowlby.
Agreed, wish they would have continued to follow up with it, just to prove or disprove the concept. Unless they found something in testing that disproved the viability of the drivetrain/layout, or new rules made it illegal... I don’t know. I wanted to see it go in its originally conceived form.
