Also isn’t it pretty weird that people can apparently just use fake usernames and go in to their systems to change their programming? That sounds absurd and ridiculous.

Or it could have meant “Hey, we can only make so many of these, so they were supposed to go to people that would love them and keep them. Hence, the contract. We don’t want people flipping them. So, anything you made on the sale above and beyond your original purchase price? That’s the penalty. (also maybe +10%).…
This is why I love you, Jalopnik. Don’t ever stop finding us stuff like this, Stef.
oh man.... does that ever look amazing.
Let us not forget that a tuned version of this exact engine went into the Shelby Series 1. That’s gotta be worth.... a couple bucks?
The real problem is this: The situation shown above is one that HUMAN drivers have trouble dealing with. I’ve seen in person and on video many accidents that happen or are narrowly avoided in this exact situation. If you, a normal person, were following this car that dodged in the other lane to avoid a stationary…
I did not know that Jackie Chan was part owner of an LMP2 team.
33, 34, 37 & 38 on page 1.
I support your ideas in theory, but when I see proposals about this I always wonder about the max energy limit rule. How do you enforce that? It would have to be calculated based on some observation external to the car, everything else seems too easy to cheat.
I would almost rather see a BOP that was based on weight,…
Also, how often do alphanumeric models end up with a “name” anyway? The GTO is affectionately referred to by some as a “Goat”, the WRX as a “Rex”... and I’ll be honest, ZL1-1LE is to much of a mouthfull anyway (6 syllables? ain’t nobody got time fo dat!)
So instead of ZL1-1LE, I just end up saying “Zulily”
And also the Ferrari Printing Money methodology of putting their logo on swag to sell. Unique logos make great apparel.
But you no longer have a floppy drive.....
Not the same thing. This doesn’t just improve the test results, it changes real world braking behavior (same as the “test”, the test is just quantifying the behavior) Also, the update brings the test results exactly in line with Tesla’s stated braking distance. Makes me think that somehow the “latest and greatest”…
There are ways around better idiots. You could make it require a unique code that requires it to call back to servers that Jaguar owns. There are already a couple of companies that have this infrastructure in place just to use remote start. A performance lock-out would just be an extension of the same functionality.
Get…
Have you ever tried to start a new car company, though? Yeah, other people have figured it out. But! it’s not like they’re sharing their playbook, especially since they would probably love it if you failed.
This is a really important mental shift that I think needs to happen. I don’t care if you’re a computer or not, who goes out and starts driving by themselves without watching somebody do it for hours and hours and asking questions? I know they have run these systems through simulations, but.... I don’t know. Obviously…
Broncos, man. Was it the manual? I drove an ‘85 for a while that was a “4-speed” - which was really only 3 because first gear was so ridiculously low you could actually take off with 2nd.
Thank you. This is the comment I was looking for.
1st Gear: Bahhahahahahaha..... I find it funny that automakers are now fighting to hold in place something that they fought against so long, even going so far as to cheat their way around emissions. But I think the flipside is this: With no, or a very low, barrier to entry on that emissions/mileage side of things, it…
There is quite a step up with the latest gen of all the vehicles. My wife has a 2013(?) Legacy which is on the Meh side of OK. I rode in a newer Legacy and a newer Impreza for dealership services and the infotainment center stack is much nicer, as well as the overall feel of the rest of the materials.
People…
