Rumor also is that the CLS is being renamed to the CLE

Is the mid to large size sedan market so important that it warrants mercedes making 4 cars (E, CLS, S, AMG GT) to appeal to every buyer with a slightly different taste?

Until you send it to RennTech. Their R1 kit for the CLS AMG bumps it up to 696.

Regera is “single-gear” because it’s a hybrid that has more electric power than a P100D (which is also single-gear), and almost as much twin-turbo V8 power. Not saying you’re wrong, just clarifying.

I’ll admit it. I’m already butt hurt because it doesn’t look more like the FT-1. But everything else.... meh. It would be neat if the engine were still a turbo I-6, but it doesn’t really matter. As long as you can tune it into the stratosphere like the previous one, I’m sure a lot of sins will be forgiven.

The batteries are often the hardest I think, because it requires so much volume to be set aside for something the car never had before, and weight balance has to be a consideration. As far as mating it to existing running gear... I’ve seen builds where people have custom adapters made up so they can bolt up to

You’re not the only one who’s had this idea, I’ve had it too and I’m sure we’re not alone. While we’re throwing in the ideas, make the form factor similar to common existing motor swaps, i.e. LS and Coyote engines, so that the mounting brackets and outputs line up with those dimensions.

Thorough, thoughtful, and fair. Thank you.

took me a minute...

I will second the notion that series is worth watching if you find those types of people interesting. There were a couple that I was tempted to skip because I thought the subject matter might not be interesting, but was always glad I didn’t skip an episode. The life stories of the people, some of the projects they’d

Always loved that bit. Who knew Ned Flanders had a dark side?

Engine with enough torque to move planets and they keep me locked in this garage. Do you call that job satisfaction? Because I don’t...

This is the correct answer, all day every day.

I have never wanted a wagon so bad in my life....

This does add multiple other layers of strategy, especially if some “contact” is allowed.

This is the problem I have with all “2+2" coupes. The old joke is that the rear seats are just there for insurance purposes. I think that auto makers should forego the attempt at “functional seating” altogether or at least offer an option that turns it into a more usable cargo space.
Imagine a track day car that had

and still come in with money to spare for a Pininfarina or Giugiaro designed body... Maybe?

Would rather wait for the Cerbera or Sagaris.

<swoon> I didn’t think unmolested examples of this car existed.
