I demand the right to be a bigot without having to face any consequences because the fairy tales I believe in are really important to me.

”why would I watch a show about assholes being assholes?”-- doesn’t that take most sitcoms out of the equation. It certainly applies to Friends, Two-and-a-Half Men, Big Bang Theory, HIMYM...
“They tell me that a man made a vegetable truck.”
Open Range snuck up on me. Bening and Duvall are both terrific, and Costner was not as off-putting as I expected him to be.
Yes, it’s all of that. But it’s also formulaic, trite, and banal. Politics aside, in a sane world it would be more of a contender for Hallmark movie-of-the-week than an Academy Award.
Maybe knowing that the girls had been trafficked and were essentially slaves was part of the thrill. Or all of the thrill.
Or it you’d prefer it at 3x speed, courtesy of The Dickies...
I was told by one of the bartenders in my local that I should stop leaving a pound on every four pound beer (pretty common in the US) because it made me look like I was trying to be a “big shot.”
So seriously, nobody has a Kindle?
“Illegal Immigrates don’t pay taxes with money they got from the U.S in turn hurting the economy.”
As a blanket statement, that’s just wrong. I lived in the US illegally for more than a decade, and during that time I paid city, state and federal taxes every year. I also started a company and paid corporate taxes, and I…
It’s a basketball city, not a football city.
Plus, I’m guessing very few of them know the Rams are an LA team this week.
Yeah, this was more like Dr Nick performing surgery on the team.
I had not read the interviews, but I did watch the final two-and-a-half episodes (walked in my wife was halfway through two) and I was puzzled by this review, because I certainly didn’t think I was supposed to believe Bundy was being candid or honest in his interviews. In fact, almost everything he said seemed to be…
The scenes in Cop where Woods is trying to seduce—there’s probably a better word for what he’s doing—Lesley Ann Warren are horrifying and hilarious at the same time.
Sort of like his current social media persona, now that I think about it.
I don’t think I ever saw anybody try to apply reason and logic to Rand’s storytelling. (I do think we could make the case that Snyder read all of her stuff, and came to the conclusion that imbuing characters with anything recognizably human would have rendered the entire exercise moot.)
The worst part is, if the Patriots beat the Chiefs I will now be forced to root for a team that doesn’t deserve to be there.
If it’s about the money, can we crowdfund enough to pay her not to debase herself like this?
Maybe it’s time to deny these guys the outrage they seem to desire and need?
Dear Deadspin (et al)
Please can you find a way to let me pay for your content? As I click on your various sites, from AV Club to The Root, I get frequent and mildly annoying messages asking me to whitelist, which I am never going to do. What I would do is pay a reasonable amount ($50-100, but others’ mileage might…
It’s so annoying that we have to wait until 2024 for the AOC-Emma Gonzalez presidential campaign.
