I do a lot of work on linux servers, using a Mac, and tar/gzip is the way to go.

After shaving I always rinse my face with warm water, and then again with cold water to close everything up. If there’s anything still bleeding after that, it usually isn’t much. If I have to I’ll stick a dab of toilet paper on it for a couple of minutes. There’s almost never a problem after that.
