Lindros was a flat-out dominant player for a number of years in the NHL. His health is the only reason why he wasn't a surefire HOFer. He is 19th all-time in career points-per-game, higher than the following HOF members: Savard, Federko, Kurri, Trottier, Perreault, Bure, both Hulls, Messier, Oates, Clarke, Mikita,…
The best thing Keenan ever did as Coach/GM of the Blues was to nix those jerseys (and yes I'm taking into account Chris Pronger).
Pretty sure Gillooly is already hiding in the Johnny's garage practicing his technique on the beer league guys.
Teams only got 2 amnesty/compliance buyouts. The Hawks have used their 2 on Montador and Olesz.
My post was a response about Hossa and the cap recapture penalties, not Toews.
If he stops playing well they can find an excuse to LTIR him like Pronger. He keeps gets paid and the Hawks avoid the cap hit. Everybody wins!
Oduya was pretty vital to the Hawks defense last year. He and Hjalmarsson were their top shutdown pair and statistically got much tougher assignments than Keith and Seabrook. Keith was free to run it up against the more middling opponents while Hjalmarsson and Oduya faced the stars, which is a big reason why his…
Kopi deserves every dollar that Toews does. The only reason why he might not is that LA is not the money printing machine that the Blackhawks are right now. But player to player, Kopi is just as good.
Actually the major difference between the early cap projections and the final number was due to the weaker than expected Canadian dollar. Hockey Related Revenue figures only put the cap for the coming season at 66M. The escalator clause put it at 68M. The league wanted to go to 70M by taking into account the TV deal a…
I'm still trying to figure it out.
Sharp would get the biggest return of their forwards (other than Toews and Kane who they'll never move if they can help it). If they could swap Sharp for a cheaper 2nd line center it would make a lot of sense. The ladies of Chicago would be disappointed obviously.
Lehtera finally coming over could also be a really nice addition. We can let Berglund be a winger, where I'd imagine he'll be a better offensive player.
The Central is so stacked right now. Spezza, Hemsky, Vanek, Iginla, and Neal all joining the party. Stastny switching to the Blues with Lehtera coming over. And Chicago still being Chicago.
In a few years Buffalo is either going to be a total powerhouse or the new Oilers. Here's hoping for the former.
something something something... he made the call the right way... something something something...
The comment I replied to was about implementing such a structure within players unions specifically, not necessarily the business side of running the team where you're much more likely to encounter plebs like us making normal money. Unless all team employees start joining the players unions then their pay scale will…
I mean... there are minimum and maximum salaries in place in certain leagues. For the NHL the minimum is 550k. The max is 20% of the salary cap, or about 14M next year. It's certainly not a 10-1 ratio, but at least it's something.
The problems with violence in Chicago almost never happen anywhere remotely close to where tourists go or where Soldier Field is located. It's almost entirely far south side and far west side. The downtown area doesn't have those problems and is one gigantic tourist trap all summer, every summer. There would be no…
