There is a podcast episode of Today Explained called “Almost Heaven” where they explain why John Denver’s Country Roads is a global hit and has been translated into a ton of different languages, even though it’s technically about West Virgina.

That’s all well and good, but most of us who have retirement investments in indexes are, whether we like it or not, investors in Tesla (as well as GM, Ford, etc). So while it’s nice to benefit from Tesla’s “meme’ness” for now, it would be nice if it was backed by something a little more solid than the occasional Nazi…
showing that tensions between
regular peoplemorons and autonomous vehicles are rising.
There must be something to it because GM is down 10% post another record setting year of earnings and Tesla is still to the moon.

There is actual real hard data with studies that refute everything you just typed. But also like, Fox News and stuff, I get it.
You’ve got to give them credit for at least attempting to have a spine, unlike a lot of corporate America who are terrified of the Y’allqueda movement in this country.
You could say this about most performance cars though. What percentage of Corvette Z06/Zr1, Blackwings, Porsches, Ferarris, Lambos, etc will ever go to the track? A very small number.
Hold on, won’t the government of Canada just cover the cost of the price increases for their consumers? That’s how I was told this works!!!
The market is softer and the country is now led by a group of people who would have us all swimming to work in “domestically produced oil” if it wouldn’t kill all of us.
We used to have these groups that we established where workers got together and demanded stuff and then did some bargaining and then things were overall better for workers.
We have an LT FWD, lower optioned model. I’m consistently shocked how quite and smooth it is, even as an EV (which will always naturally be quieter). Road noise and other ambient nose are so low, it’s great. It’s leaps and bounds better than my loaded Bolt EUV.
We really don’t though. I mean, we definitely bitch about it, but we’re never willing to propose it as an actual solution to any problem. Hell this entire election was all about “bringing down prices”, which we all know is never going to happen. Not once did anyone outside of Bernie mention that maybe we should…
There’s a gap that no one really seems to want to talk about; not just as it relates to auto production, but corporate America in general. We never talk about the possibility that just maybe these giant corporations don’t NEED to set record profits every single quarter for eternity.
Is this supposed to be some sort of humble brag?
If I can take one good thing from this election cycle, it’s that it really made me look at my consumerism habits and go “dude, wtf are you doing?”
I guess I would just say, don’t let these pricks take your humanity.
We really should take a look at how much shit we buy though. Like fuck Trump and everything he stands for, but also, maybe we need to temper our consumerism just a tad.
The problem is, you’re forgetting about a lot of people who didn’t vote for Trump and also aren’t able to afford increases in living costs. I can afford it, I’ll be fine too. But I feel bad that many families could be “punished” for something they never wanted.
You’re taking a lot of liberties in your interpretation of what I typed.
