They’re also talking about credit cuts/eliminations for EV’s sold in the US that aren’t built in the US, which will likely hurt most OEM’s.

because Elon would say that he doesn’t want any government help anyway

It’s starting to feel like we’re pushing everything as far as we can into the “more lean, more profit!!!” space, and it’s finally starting to break the system.

It’s also far more interesting to watch on TV.

This is where I’m at as well.  Everyone wants to sit and bitch about these guys, but at the end of the day, we all go out and support them with our pocketbooks, and turn a blind eye because we just really don’t care.

This is what I kind of wonder. Is Musk just really playing a game of “how many rules can I break, and how much bullshit can I start before I get in trouble”.

    Part of what conversation though?

This certainly isn’t unique to Tesla...

I seem to remember over the last year or so this entire website and the majority of the commenters getting on their hands and knees to slob Toyota for how brilliantly they “handled” this chip shortage.

Lol big brain Jalopnik comment right here.

The problem with all these “fun” colors is that a lot of them aren’t rigorously tested for durability.

Last I heard, OEM’s are buying chips at 300x what they were two to three years ago, just to try to keep a limited amount of factories on line.

Are you equating stock up on shit paper to preparing for a global microchip shortage as well as a complete breakdown of the global logistics network?  Cuz that would be hilarious.

I avoid Macomb County at all costs, but probably somewhere over there.

Correct, Foxconn, you know, the place where they had to install suicide nets.

Yea. I work for one of the Big 3. The amount of work that is being done to best survive this chip mess has been astronomical, and it has hit every single part of the organization.

And imagine if Apple “vertically integrated” and was forced to produce every single part that goes into an iPhone.

You know this problem isn’t unique to GM right?  Take a trip over to Dearborn.  Every parking lot in the entire city is filled up with F150's waiting for chips.

You must know something that all the OEM’s combined don’t know!  You should apply for a job!

This doesn’t fit the narrative of this article though!
