Hugs. I was laid off too, and it’s been a slog applying for jobs. I applied for unemployment, but was flagged for a hearing and they haven’t made a determination yet, so I’m pinching every penny so I can stretch my savings as much as possible. I have no advice, other than be kind to yourself. Hugs!

I”m thinking of watching the Jack Ryan series again, and Maniac looks good, so I’;ll be all over that when it’s available; I’ll probably binge on Luke Cage and then Iron Fist season 2. Why do I have so much time? I got laid off. There are only so many jobs to apply for (and I’ve applied for them all...)

But, without a trial, it will not be in the headlines during election season, so that might help Trump / Republican Party

And buy Swingline staples, cheap staples break and jam the stapler.

Rain boots. I’ve gone through enough pairs of $25 boots from Target that sprung leaks within 2 years that I would’ve saved money if I just bought a pair of Hunters.

In your post you also mentioned drinking too much and online poker addiction, maybe he can start with going to AA or GA meetings? or going to individual therapy for those issues?

The Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownies are the absolute best and have been my go-to for almost 2 decades. If I can’t find that, then Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate Brownie mix is almost as good. I tried homemade mixes, and the effort outweighed taste, every time.

Have you considered therapy, or anti-anxiety medication?

thank you for running

Congratulations! Here’s to many happy years in your new home.

congratulations!

contact your college’s career services office (you are still eligible as an alum), they can help you with resume prep, interviewing skills, as well as networking, etc.

I don’t know the number, but I’m guessing it’s 0%

Congratulations! Moving is the special hell, but you will love your new home!

Have you tried getting him to watch Hoarders? Because that sounds like his future if he doesn’t change his shopping behavior

I’m a teacher, and I still buy a lot of clothes at Target, but I splurge on shoes (I need arch support these days). I use the rule of “spend your money where you spend your time,” and I spend a lot  of time on my feet! You can “splurge” on yourself if it means a better quality of life.

I used to do this ALL. THE. TIME. until I stopped and did the math. I would go to Starbucks every day and drop ~$10 each time. Each day I would justify the expense (I need the caffeine, and I got a late start so have to buy breakfast). I would use retail therapy to “treat” myself after a bad day. I had to change my
