I’ve thought about this a lot too, and I think there are a few strategies behind this:

1: It’s a subtle propaganda and disinformation tactic. By constantly shoving this notion of “abortion reversal” (this is what the antis call the thing we’re talking about here) into the public conversation, it subtly implies that the

Agreed! But the fact that it is so clearly laid out! That they sat there and discussed and agreed on fucking over people who have been raped. It just blows my mind.

I went to one of the hearings for a prior version of this bill and when somebody brought up that there should at least be an exception for rape or incest it was explained that such a small percentage of pregnancies come from rape and incest that it doesn’t matter. I wish I could remember which monster said it.

Harron - this happened Thursday night and we woke up to it Friday morning, but not many news sources were reporting it.

To be fair, the ones who make the exception only for rape and incest aren’t too great either.

I like the part where they clearly note that no exceptions can be made for incest or rape. These are terrible human beings. I am so exhausted by the lack of humanity these people keep showing. There isn’t any meeting in the middle with those who can’t see other people as actual humans.

Yes exactly, I’m glad I’m not the only one confused ( and would also be more likely to go through with it given thehthe “you can change your mind”argument, erroneous as this one may be. Thanks for the help and the link!

I wanted to be pregnant and had a miscarriage at 6 weeks. I, a person trying to be pregnant and monitoring all the symptoms with ridiculous care, didn’t know I was pregnant until the miscarriage. The symptoms at that point are pretty much the same as PMS. People like to act like it is somehow shocking that someone

Got sick back in 2017 and during my recovery, I had the strong urge to get away from it all, for just a week, and for some reason pictured a trip backpacking and camping in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Life and work got in the way when I was back on my feet, but the idea never died and, in fact, evolved: I sche

Fair! I was trying to avoid saying some variation of “pregnant” again and chose a sloppy synonym that actually doesn’t mean that 1:1. For the record, I absolutely do not think that a fetus = a child.

I’ve never understood this either. It’s certainly not scientifically accurate. And if I was having some trouble with making the decision, I’m pretty certain that a doctor telling me that I might have an option to back out at the last minute, even after taking the drugs to induce the abortion.... well, that idea might

Hey, hey, they’re just doing what’s best for their subjects constituents.

There’s nothing quite like a total end-run on the voters to demonstrate that you, as an elected official, truly represent the will of your constituents.

Not to nitpick, and I am absolutely horrified/enraged by the skulduggery of fetus fetishizers, but could the term “with child” please be used a bit more judiciously? From where I sit, language is powerful, and embroyoes, and fetuses (fetii?) are NOT children and should not be referred to, as such. Thanks.

JFC. Republicans just love to think of themselves as the “morally superior” party, but all they ever do is fucking cheat, lie, bribe and steal in order to maintain power over others. And they aren’t even good at lying or covering up their cheating these days.

Greyed so it won't matter but can anyone sufficiently explain the rationale for having to tell a woman that medical abortions can be halted part way? Not only is that overly simplifying bad science to begin with, but what possible way would this help their cause?

Which means they are essentially banning ALL abortions as it’s dangerous to perform abortions before six weeks. You cannot perform abortions too early as it’s difficult to ensure you have removed all the contents.

This isn’t the first time they’ve pulled some sneaky crap like that either

The people of Tennessee woke up to some horrifying news on Saturday morning:

And Tennessee coat hanger manufacturers rejoice...
