Netflix has a pretty decent Dracula limited series. It’s an interesting take on Dracula.

Is it campy? Yes. Is it perfect? Yes. Can it make you like Tom Cruise as an actor? Yes.
Anne Rice wrote the boy an apology letter after slagging his casting. What more do you need? It is a portrait in melancholy, lonely, beautiful, and haunting.
I was 2 when the book came out. 20 when the movie came out. So, obviously An Old (i.e., not the intended audience of Jezebel anymore). Times are hard and I’m day drinking as I work from home sometimes, too. But still, I might have at least watched something ...once...more (after 26 years) before writing about it. And …
I had a friend who is a body piercer and obv hangs with a pretty goth crowd. I’ve partied with him and it’s always been a wild time, so yeah could be false, but I’ve known him since ‘92, so I believe him.
The reporter is NOT Christian Bail. You really gonna come at us saying the movie doesn’t hold up and not even have watched it (or at the very least, looked at IMDB beforehand). Its Christian Slater.
This is a needlessly bad take on a subject no one was wondering about.
I’m not sure you actually watched this movie, considering no mention of a few key things and the fact that Christian Bale was nowhere near this movie.
Tom Cruise’s greatest performance was Less Grossman.
Dunst was indeed nominated for, but did not win, the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in Motion Picture in 1994.
YES. Dracula as the original novel has certainly spawned countless versions, takes, etc., but the actual work has been left wanting over and over again.
You're confused about the positive review because this movie is great. It's not Tarkovsky, get over it.
It’s Christian Slater, not Christian Bale
Hmm, I think you’re all over-arching point about the movie not being good doesn’t actually stand. But yes this was an outstanding role for Kirsten, and while Pitt was a little too overwhelmingly mopey - especially when compared to the Louis in the book, Tom Cruise surprised everyone including the author who I recalled…
Did I legit just skim a review of a movie the reviewer barely remembers seeing? Or does thorough reading reveal this to be an actual article?
The book created a sensation, and the movie was Intended to as well, by casting two of the hottest leading men at the time. And Kirsten stole the movie out from under them. The original Interviewer was to be River Phoenix, but he died before his scenes were shot and Slater took over. River fit the book Daniel better,…
man I don’t think I have ever seen that before where nobody in the comment section actually agrees with the writer lol. I can’t say I am a huge vampire fan but this is one of my favorite vampire movies. As far as “not holding up” was that just put in there for a click bait headline because unless I was missing…
River Phoenix was originally cast as the interviewer. When he passed away, the role went to Christian Slater, though the big “what if” is that Leonardo DiCaprio was considered to replace Phoenix. That would have put young Brad and Young Leo in a movie together a quarter century before once upon a time.
Teenager in the 90s here ... this has always been one of my favorite go to Vampire movies )along with Bram Stokers Dracula.) ... this movie is just a fun delicious ride when we didn’t know Tom Cruise was crazy & vampires didn’t sparkle yet.
Christian SLATER ffs.
You get it right the first time by saying the reporter is Christian Slater but later you say it is Christian Bale.
Is it streaming anywhere? I remember seeing it back in the 90s, and would like to see it again.
