"I think St. Elmo's Fire holds up well."
Spader is such a sleazeball in that movie and I love every second of it.
I don't think Henry becoming Patrick Bateman is the Jennings' biggest worry. It's the question Philip asked him directly: "Do you NOT want to live here?" Like Elizabeth said, there are plenty of private schools in the D.C. area. Henry wants to get away from home, and no wonder when his parents appear to be totally…
That's what I think too. I hate it when people describe it as "the perfect murder." This was not premeditated; it was likely an accident which the parents covered up. And they got really lucky when the Boulder PD botched the initial investigation.
The Academy made some awful decisions in the 80s and 90s, but SotL deserved every accolade.
The continuity really is amazing. If I hadn't re-watched the pilot recently, I would have been really confused by that shot of the drywall in the garage.
I've never understood why Philip went along with the plan to recruit Paige. In the pilot both parents were adamant about never telling the kids. Elizabeth's change of heart makes sense, but Philip's doesn't. This is a guy who was ready to defect in the pilot, and things have only gotten worse since then.
His appearance in two skits last night made it painfully obvious he's trying to follow in Justin Timberlake's footsteps. But he doesn't have the same showmanship.
I kept waiting for Carrie to have a big emotional breakdown, but other than a few tears it really didn't happen. Quinn deserved better.
The suspense in the first act was great, but I agree that we need a better explanation for why so many people hate Keane, and why Dar suspected something nefarious about her.
That's so interesting, thanks for the reply!
Maybe. I imagine a math whiz would be highly valuable to the KGB too.
I wonder if they had to recreate the old styrofoam McDonald's containers, or if these things are just sitting around in the McDonald's archives.
I think the math revelation is just the beginning. I bet Henry suspects or knows a lot more than they give him credit for, and he's a much bigger danger than Paige is right now.
He's merely stating the obvious: figuring out the exact nature of her feelings for Quinn is part of Carrie's arc this season. We know how Quinn feels, but she's avoided defining her feelings for a long time.
Renee is so obviously a spy, they need to do something that surprises the audience. Perhaps she and Henry are partners. :)
The 10,000 Maniacs version was the first version I heard back in college. It's a lovely cover.
My jaw dropped when I realized it was Martha. MARTHA!!!
It seems like the writers are exploring two questions this season: 1) Is Carrie in love with Quinn? and 2) Can two damaged people like Quinn and Carrie even accept that they are worthy of love? I think it was Otto During who told Carrie in the first episode that she needed to allow someone in her life who loved her.…
I watched the special last night and was disappointed. Nothing really new in her stand-up. Best part by far was her gun control rant. Her impression of gun nuts who overreact to any suggestion of gun control was hilarious.
