Agreed. It seems a little hypocritical. But so is complaining about showing DSK in handcuffs and then publishing the alleged rape victims name in print (and her teenage daughter!). So you know...maybe that's just "their way."

Omg. You are such a good friend.
You know what though? I find that hard to believe. I'm sure you were great. Also 4k! Jesus.
Ok I was not in this wedding although my ex-was a groomsman (but we had already broken up but we were sharing a room to save money) but this is the greatest Bridesmaid story ever.
I really don't think you can be "too mean" to that sort of sociopath.
Good for you! Have fun!
"The gender and class of the people involved in this case make this false accusation a plausible possibility."
Yes. Also see the other item in the news right now. In 2008 there were multiple claims that Arnold was groping (non consensually) employees and reporters and those claims went absolutely no where and he went on to win.
@Princess Leela: I believe she's making an allusion to this [jezebel.com]
I see what you did there!
@underling: yeah ideally it would open a dialog as to this incident and all the other women who felt silenced by his power or were flat out ignored and why that was and a realization that we need to change how we view this sort of character. But...I'm feeling negative.
@keldo: I know, I would love to hear from all the people (some on THIS very website) who were claiming that duh! SEVERAL witnesses saw him out having lunch with his daughter the EXACT time the rape was supposed to be taking place.
I wish I had this sort of optimism Anna. However if anything the coverage of this even over the last week has reinforced the reality of our rape culture. The way that so many in the media and public have rushed to this mans defense and demonized the victim has been appalling. And we haven't even got to the trial yet,…
ugh.
Can people stop putting her on TV now? She is not a well person.
Oh I know! My doctor even wrote my prescription for three month long increments and they wouldn't fill it that way. Seriously the shit women have to put up with to access BC is fucking obscene.
ETA: Ok my initial response was a little bitchy but seriously unreliable narrator you comment was a bit condescending. Obviously I'm aware medical risks are involved. There are many involved. It's still my choice and my access to birth control shouldn't be held over my head.
Agreed. Should I have one every year? For arguments sake lets just say yes. However that choice should still be up to me and my access to BIRTH CONTROL shouldn't be bartered.
But then how could my ob-gyn blackmail me in order to refill my birth control prescription?
If you could see my face you would describe it as "unsurprised."
