Had a 4 party line back in the 50's. There was a one ring line, a two and a three then there was three short and a long. It was almost like Morse Code. The person who had three shorts would answer everyone else's phone if it rang more than twice. Just couldn't get her to understand the slight pauses. We all

TIL you can opt out of Amber Alerts.

My safety is more important than a silly arbitrary number on a sign. I'll follow statistics, thanks and follow the flow of traffic.

I was driving back to Pittsburgh from the Outer Banks in NC. As I was driving through the mountains in Maryland after about 7 hours of driving, I dozed off and woke to the sound of the rumble strip at the side of the road. I yanked the car back on the highway and looked down at the cliff I nearly drove off. I stopped

I was t-bone in a car accident that shattered three vertebrae in my neck.

Thats actually a lead pointer. It's different from a pencil sharper. The cutter stays stationary and the lead (plastic lead) moves around it. I have a couple around someplace still. They also used to build them into the caps with little tiny razor blades.

I don't know about you, but I always take my cupcakes radioactive.

Did you get the right Cree bulbs? They make a 2700K and a 5000K color profile bulb. The 2700K's put out the same color profile as a normal incandescent. The 5000K's have a blueish hue that is much closer to natural sunlight. I, along with my room-mate and everyone we invite over have never been able to tell the

They have a lot of different temp bulbs, you just need to pick the right one. I think the one you are looking for is the Warm White one. I bought a couple cool white and it is off, so I shoved it in one of the rooms in my basement.

My 5 year old son today in the car said "Cortez the Killer" and it took me a minute to realize, hey, he wants some Neil Young on our way to pre-school. Sadly, its only a five minute drive so we sat in the lot to finish the song up.

Literally was going to post exactly this.

I don't know why, but I felt this needed to be done.

In the US, the vast majority of homes use cement for foundations. Solid poured footers or a monolithic slab.

Honestly, unless the house was poured solid, monolithic concrete out of walls so thick no one would want to live there, it would not stand up to it. If it were any kind of structural masonry, brick, block, stone, it would probably have collapsed into pieces as it would not be able to get out of the way in one piece.

It's not "could" get peeled off, it's "will". Also, I don't think I've met anyone that actually peels the tape off to open a box. That's what knives are for. During my former job I opened more boxes than most people will in a few life times, not once did I peel the tape off.

the only government workers who take half a year off is congress

And THAT my friends, is what is wrong with society. Instead of a good work ethic, we invent
