For a banana and grapes they could have just issued him a DAT, there was no reason to take him into custody. The only justification is the cops wanted to be aggressive and escalate the situation. 

JFC, write the man a ticket and keep it pushing. I know we are dealing with inflation, but no way a banana and a few grapes cost more than $100 which could have been handled via ACD. This man died for no reason outside of cops escalating the situation.
