Yeah but then the menus aren’t in your native language. there are work-arounds, but still. BBCP/EX flopped pretty hard on a competitive level [compared to previous iterations] largely because of the 5+ month delay. Shoryuken even did an article on it. When it comes to learning combos, and sparring online, this was a

Keep in mind Aksys is localizing the franchise, Blazblue/ArcSystemWorks itself isn’t making the dub decision. If you actually want the game, but are refusing to buy it out of some ‘principle’, you can get the international version.

Being released within a month of the JP release is fine. Don’t nitpick the guy just because his point conflicts with his opinion. Also, while I understand your Hobbit analogy’s purpose, it doesn’t actually make the case you want it to in reality. The story is delivered as a visual novel, not a movie. You’re in a gray

Exactly. BBCP[EX] died so fast over here.

While you might do that, many of us would be just as upset as you are now having to wait to play the latest version for 8+ months.

I agree that we don’t have archetypes for characters over here, but there are only so many ways you can act out a voice differently. You’d probably have an issue with something no matter what since you don’t like JP voice acting, or they’d all just be really bland and not stand out individually [yes I’m exaggerating a

It is unlikely that it’d be free as it would be a significant expenses across many levels to create the english audio.

I hear you, and you make valid points. But I sincerely believe the release date was just as big of a factor as the expenses. This is indeed speculation however, so who knows.

Haha I’ll keep that in mind!

You’re right actually, the Persona series has always done stellar work dubbing. [Still wish I had the option for JP VA, but apparantly the price tag for that is complicated]

Grant it, we tend to hang with ppl similar to ourselves, but 90% of my friends go with Subs, unless it is for something like DBZ, which we all grew up watching in English. When given an option though, subs.

Yup, far more often I find JP acting getting me into the atmosphere of events, with dubs it feels like they’re just coloring in the lines.

Gravity Rush 2 got delayed, and you don’t have Blazblue.

I’m a subs guy, but you make us sound like jack-asses talking like that.

You have the best attitude I have seen about prefering english dubs. Keep it up!

I’m not delighted as a ‘sub-preferer’, but I’m sure as heck glad there wasnlt an 8 month delay from the JP release. If they can patch in an English Dub dlc later fine/great, but I want to train now, and I don’t mind reading. [I will admit, this series is one of the rarer instancesvwith decent English VA].

Eh, Aksys is a big company, so your arguement is somewhat valid. But when he’s talking about smaller companies, and the difference between getting a translated port or no port at all, I’d definitely be happy getting to play a great game in any state. A little reading isn’t gonna kill anyone.

What. I was with you until you said ‘for the money reasons’. Sure thats a factor, but I’m sure many fans who go-hard on BB wouldn’t have been happy waiting [likely] 8+ months to get the game after JP. I sure as hell didn’t want to wait.

Your last paragraph makes it sound like none of us are capable of enjoying the game without dubs. I for one rarely used dubs, certainly not for story-mode. Great article though, I know the people who were upset are much more likely to come out the woodwork to complain than the people who were just fine with their

Agreed. The original creation with JP VA is definitely my preference. I admit the BB dubs are usually high-quality, but companies, such as Atlus, frequently make me wish they’d still leave the JP voice-acting in a lot of their games. [Atlus doesn’t even give you a choice, Conception was especially painful.]
