Oh okay then. But, the white rapist in this story is not an athlete AND was let off easy.

Not sure how you read there black men never get away with rape. It seems pretty clear she is referencing sentencing. Are black men convicted of rape let off? I doubt it happens at the same scale it does for white men.
Did s/he say they didn’t?
Is s/he really pretending there are no differences in sentencing white and black people? This has been studied and concluded extensively. No one considers the hardships on an unknown black boy or man. A white man convicted of rape is more likely to get a more lenient sentence than a black man convicted of rape. Facts.

Don’t know much about Matt McGorry’s feminism, but definitely not going to go by that racist Megan Murphy’s analysis. She hates black women.

You stop being willfully obtuse. It is centering white people in a conversation about his show. No one questions white writers on how many black people watch their show.
Of course because centering white people in everything is the only way to go
Why would that even be a question? Why is a black writer obligated to figure out if whites are learning about “black culture” from his show? What does that even entail in practice? When have white people needed a show to appropriate elements of various black sub-cultures?
White folks know when to stop.
Quite the ragey one you are. Go meditate and stop being defensive. It takes time to work through your subconscious bias.
I guess you are the gatekeeper of feminism? You think you decide which black women can call herself a feminist. Whether you regard as one or not is your business. She regards herself as one and that is all that matters.
You lack self-awareness
I am tired of ‘what would white people say?’ being the question people go to when black people do anything. It is annoying, it is suffocating, and it reinforces the idea black people’s lives/actions are only valid or good if white approve. It needs to end and if it is your first instinct, you need to ask yourself why.
I am responding to your phrase ‘succumb to adversity’. I really wish we can get away from blaming children for not performing Herculean miracles to “overcome” obstacles.
Not sure why you consider these kids in these circumstances privileged? I doubt you would feel the same way if they were white.
I know this is supposed to be a feel good story and I am happy for the girls, but I can’t feel any joy. Are they coming back to live at the shelter? I just feel massively uncomfortable that we are expecting these girls (and one as little as 8) to physically work and push their bodies for 7-10 years for an opportunity…
...... and the Ottawa police just beat a black man to death with batons. Not sure why people keep trying to drown out black Canadian voices.
You have to hand it to white men: they are determined to hold their place in history as obstructionist to progress of any other group. They are a group so determined to be on the wrong side of history when it comes to progress and equality.
