She wasn’t just redeemed by her love, but by deliberately changing her behavior, making her, you know, not toxic anymore.
In earlier seasons there was some ambiguity about how gay we were supposed to interpret the character dynamics. The final season is unambiguously very gay. This is an improvement over most series only revealing gay characters in the final episodes so they don’t have to worry about homophobic boycotts.
She-Ra also had gay male representation in Bow’s dads and non-binary representation in Double Trouble.
Such a satisfying end to the show and a redemption arc done right. I was nervous Catra and Adora weren’t going to be canon until Catra stated: “Adora doesn’t want me. Not like I want her.” and I thought, yeah, that just went from subtext to canon.
Dude. Fraggle Rock did a more skillful telling of the story TROS wanted to do. Low bar.
I’m all for that season of “just getting up to stuff and nothing bad happens.”
