I can absolutely guarantee that there are teachers in this country who don’t read newspapers. They watch Fox News and think Glenn Beck is hilarious. I know some of them. I’m not sure why that’s so impossible to believe.

Whoa there. I can’t speak for Mr./Ms. Trousers, but I read that comment as an indictment of the argument that Clinton was untrustworthy and therefore Trump was preferable and somehow more honest and trustworthy.

Many portions of this country are, effectively, a bunker when it comes to these issues (see: flyover states).

My guess is that the teacher hadn’t actually thought about what the kids would gain, and was just following the old schtick of making history come alive! for them. Sigh.

Certified teacher here: teacher training programs have fallen WAY behind in actually preparing teachers to stand in front of a classroom of children in many ways, but the issue of race is probably where the U.S. teacher training sucks the most.

A genuine act of kindness would be leaving a generous tip, a note simply thanking her for service, and keeping his gaping mouth shut about it.

My ancestors probably owned slaves too, but I own it and I don’t try to cover it up. Affleck was directly involved in suppressing that information after it was revealed to him because he was embarrassed and didn’t want to own his privilege. That’s shitty.
