The SNES had a game called “E.V.O. The Quest for Eden” that is a great game that has much of the idea that SPORE had. It doesn’t have as a robust character creator though, and your traits are determined on what you use/evolve, so it’s not exactly the same. I absolutely love that game, and you should give it a try!

I think I agree with Jeff Gerstmann when he says that the games that you’re thinking about may no longer belong on Steam as the market landscape changes. As Valve seeks to identify what part of the market it caters to, it maybe time for the small, experimental game makers that you’re talking about go to other venues

You can’t return video games to stores after they’ve been played. They won’t accept them. Video Games, Music, Movies; these are the big three that aren’t returnable. Mostly, because “quality” is a subjective term; all retailers do is make sure is that the product *works*, the quality of the content is up to debate.

AOT relies on spectacle, and for me, that’s okay. It’s like Pacific Rim, most of the movie is flash, little plot, like a dumb action movie. I can totally understand that it’s not your cup-o-tea.
