Fun update: their Russian host just said “No thanks!” and pulled the plug:
Because of the precedent it sets: now that CloudFlare has shown it is willing to block sites that they don’t like, they’ll be under far more pressure to apply this action to cases that are less clear cut. I think they made the right call here (I mean, seriously folks, why did it take this long), but I sorta understand…
That scarf is alarmingly close to trans flag colors. So... why can’t he be a trans man? That’d be a delightful bit of representation out of left field if true.
Is it being used that way? If so, the insulter isn’t particularly creative. I say leave it alone, as a gay man I’ve been called far worse. (Not that I speak for everyone, of course.)
Look, Skyward Sword may have its share of problems, but it also gave us:
> racist white folks
The thing I’ve learned about HR departments is that in most large-ish companies, they are not your friend. The HR department exists to shield the company from liability lawsuits. If there’s a dispute between employees, and especially if it smells like a discrimination dispute, HR’s general response is going to be to…
Let me defend my race here for a moment:
The art style and especially lighting choices make this look like a stop motion film rather than CG, which is an interesting direction. There’s certainly some life to the expressions, but I dunno... I kinda want to see this in motion before I form an opinion. The static shots look somewhat rigid; I realize most of…
I made the mistake of saying this once when I first heard the BLM movement, before fully grok’ing what it meant. Really a foot squarely in mouth moment. It’s difficult for me to fully understand this situation because frankly, as a white male, I’m blind to large parts of the problem. And that’s really the core issue…
Truthfully I’m not familiar with the Wii U scene at all. I’m surprised to hear that Cemu is already running so well; I wonder what about that architecture made progress so quick? Or perhaps it’s just that they’re getting Pateron funding and can spend more time on it. (Also, I’m surprised Nintendo hasn’t shut that…
Citra booted its first commercial game in 2015, about 4 years before Nintendo stopped production of 3DS hardware in 2019.
Citra really is an impressive accomplishment, a shining example of Nintendo’s platform security biting them in the ass on the return. You see, retail games (including all of Nintendo’s) don’t get to talk to the hardware directly, they’re mostly limited to sending API calls through to the OS, which talks to the…
I find this to be the primary escapist fantasy of *any* video game, really. The real world is full of obligation, but the vast majority of video games allow the player to choose their own tasks and proceed at their own pace. Even the linear games with storyline progression aren’t *that* heavy handed in the specific…
> I wonder how much of a bailout Dodo Airlines is gonna get when the online service goes down.
It’s worth pointing out that the game practically *showers* the player with money for even the most casual playtime activities. These min-maxing exploits are interesting to read about, but the game is not at all meant to be played this way. It’s meant to be relaxing and chill.
This reminds me of a similar experiment that XKCD ran a while back. The results were interesting, and the trollish responses amusing. I wonder how this new survey will filter for spam?
You wouldn’t think Google Earth of all things would be that compelling... that is, until you find the neighborhood you grew up in, and decide to have a literal walk down memory lane.
For all of its jank, Skyrim VR is probably the game I’ve sunk the most headset time into. Something about that world just pulls me back in every time. It helps that there’s a thriving modding community, and the VR build works with most mods, so it’s easy to spice up the formula. But even ignoring that, there’s just an…
