You underestimate the appeal of cosmetic items in games with a persistent multiplayer world. Identity for a lot of people is a big part of the online experience. Maybe you don’t care but trust me plenty do.

Is Destiny’s 2 xp system so innovative that an outsider looking in couldn’t figure out how it works? Do activities for xp. Suddenly doing those same activities aren’t netting you the xp it previously did yet its indicating that you are getting the same xp. Cue problem.

Hell reduced xp/money or other rewards are pretty common when performing repeat tasks in these type of games. Its about the xp being throttled while players were being told by the system in game system…

A bug still existed regardless if it was intentional or not. The wrong xp was being reported. And yes the company that wouldn’t want to be buried by the negative outrage especially seeing how bad EA got it this past few weeks came out after being caught and admitted it was intentional.

If it flat out stopped giving you xp it would clearly be a bug. However how does the game suddenly start throttling xp only after extended play time? The loop didn’t just break. It suddenly replaced the xp gains with lower gains but only after doing so x many of times. That has to be intentional.

While I agree this is a step in the right direction we’ve seen that publishers will still continue to pull off stuff like this and some of those greedy tactics will get by.
