Those are really thoughtful questions. I am often very hesitant to post publicly like this because there is SO much to this - it’s impossible to cover everything I think & feel and so often people do not want to have a discussion, they want to drive home a point. But I really appreciate the chance to discuss it, so

Imma reply to this because I have a child on the way through surrogacy right now. (Not sure it’s a good idea to weigh in, not really looking to be eviscerated for my choices, but here goes.)

Poosh?? My first thought was “Bloosh,”the name of the Goop parody in Parks & Rec.

In my (admittedly jaded and bitter) head, this ending was perfect. And the reason I now look for different endings in rom-coms is partially because I am satisfied by this love story (and a few others) and don’t need to see it hashed out & watered down over and over by less interesting characters, writers, actors,

If they hadn’t gotten together then there would have been no reason to add those adorable couples and their “how we got together” stories to the movie, and then I wouldn’t know to say “I knew the way you know about a good melon” at random times in my life- and obviously always when I am choosing a melon.

I may have to take a newborn on a flight in a few months and I’m feeling inspired now. I’ll even pack some fabulous sunglasses to cement my diva-with-baby status on that flight. Thanks Naomi Campbell!

Ooh..Andrew behind the stories!  I like the way you think and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

My husband worked for a few years for a family that was VERY wealthy (oil &gas) and that’s when I realized that “just plain filthy rich” topsrich & famous” by a mile. Gobs of money AND complete anonymity is the way to go.

I thought it was okay, but I remember thinking, “how are ALL of these women being underused right now?” There were some great lines (especially in the wine tasting scenes- those were my favorite) but it did feel like several of the sub-plots were shoe-horned in. Especially the very predictible plot point for The Weird

I am hoping against hope that farther down in this thread is a woman posting her story about how when she was a tween she got her first period in the dark woods while on vacation with someone else’s family, and then I hope you both lock eyes and say “it’s you!” and then you get together over international coffee and

One of my favorite things is starfishing! Enjoy it!

Wow, this is crazy! Unfortunately, fighting the urge to rage at him pre-dates any supplemental hormones, so I think this one is on me :)

I’ve been in a shit mood for days (New stupid birth control? Anxiety?) and this just after my husband came home from a 2 week trip, which means I feel extra guilty for being suuuuper irritated at how he slurps oatmeal because he can’t wait until it cools off 5 degrees before he eats it. So honestly, right now it’s

“...ban ads that...portray gender-based violence”

Oh man, the gothics! That is bringing me way back to my (pre-internet) teen summers. We called them Fleeing Woman books in my house, my mom had tons. (There is always ONE light on in whatever house/mansion/estate/castle she is running away from.)

I think she’s right that there are differences between discussions of a Wes Anderson set vs a Nancy Meyers kitchen. Often I see Anderson’s sets discussed by ~Critics of Film~ as intergral to a vision blah blah, whereas Meyers movie kitchens are discussed as Pinterest fodder for viewers. There’s no doubt that those

This might be weird, but I never fully believed Cooper & Shayk ever really cared about each other. Then they had a baby and I was like, “Huh. Okay. I guess I’m wrong.”

I have this problem too! My friend Janis diagnosed it as having trouble with the “ubiquitous blondes” and I have never forgotten that. Sienna Miller. Kate Bosworth. Dianna Agron. Naomi Watts. I’m sure there are others but I don’t know who they are because I thought they were one of these four women.

Idris Elba!

Ooohh, is that what’s going on? I just moved to Tennessee 7 months ago and I have been astonished by the driving. Not always straight- up dangerous, sometimes just unusual & creative.
