I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought exactly this when they saw the gif.

And it begins.
Starred then unstarred so I could star again.
“One does not simply ‘jump on the gas’ in a Viper”
Excited.
I take jack stands for granted and often forget that people forgo their use. As a kid I had the benefit of a teacher with a crooked/smashed faced gifted to him by a ‘57 Chevy that should have killed him. Use jack stands. Every time.
Every single time...
I think there’s also a little bolt-on supercharger that (together with a tune) basically eliminates that dip and not much else.
Thanks. Some cuntmuffin just called me an asshole for it.
Not entirely true. The manufacturers fuck the dealerships too. Some of that warranty work that our technicians do, takes longer than the manufacturer will pay. And the manufacturer sets the labor rate of warranty work. They won’t pay a penny more. And they often refuse to pay for little administrative errors. Also,…
I worked in the car businesses for many years, got out at the peak of the recession. I typically was one of the higher grossing and higher volume salesman and would work every deal, regardless of margin. Talk about demoralizing! Finally, shortly before I promoted to sales manager, I had a customer flag me at the…
So, customers are stupid in attempting to save as much money as they can since they obviously don’t understand business.
Except they’re not really losing money on the deal. They’re just losing out on potentially MORE money they COULD have made. But that opportunity cost comes with a time investment as well. If the salesperson didn’t spend 4 hours trying to make that extra bucks the $100-200 commission they do get wouldn’t seem so bad.…
This car is perfect; except for the miles.
And yet, the reason the seller gives for wanting to be rid of the car is because they can’t afford to maintain it the way it deserves to be maintained...
So what you’re saying is that EVERYONE is getting fucked. Customers get fucked by salespeople, salespeople get fucked by the owner, dealers get fucked by the manufacturer, etc.
And on top of it, many won’t do the work if you bring in a part you bought yourself. I understand there’s the risk of the part failing and blame/liability could be difficult to assign if something went south, but flat out refusing instead of simply having a liability waiver seems like too much. Some work is difficult…
“Overcharging for parts” makes me rage. I am paying the mechanic for their knowledge of car repair. Not for their part ordering prowess. Make your hourly rate whatever you want, just don’t charge me extra for a part I could order myself.
Behold the squid, in its normal environment.
