Yes, I know that.  However, it’s set in America, in a mountainous valley with a river. It’s a really fun map - especially how the residences are spread out. It was just a suggestion since Appalachia is likely not going to happen, but never mind I guess.

It helps your kid learn respect and boundaries to be “parented” by others and there is no harm in it. Everyone understands that the actual parent has the final say and is the boss, but I don’t see any negatives in letting others teach them.
