I agree! I just posted a similar comment before I saw yours. I had my debit card number stolen once. I went to the bank and they refunded the money instantly while they investigate.

Visa/Mastercard debit cards have the exact same protections as credit cards.  If your bank is not refunding your money instantly, you need a new bank.  My card number was stolen years ago and it wasn’t an issue at all.
