Um, it's called "respect", okay? If you respect your partner, you'll pretend to be a robot who services him at will.

Any marriage where you feel weird about pooping in your own house is not a strong one.
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES.
Bras are oppressive to big boobs. All those underwires and shit.... hate them.
I'm sorry, but that is so clearly not the case here. Nowhere is this presented in the context of mutual power play. It is not a book about an alternative lifestyle, it is a book telling women what to do to keep a man. Initially I thought maybe you were into BDSM yourself, and it just touched a nerve for you…
I thought it was hilarious until everyone pointed out she was serious. Now I'm sad
That's the thing, though- I don't see anything in your original post that shows that other people are actually treating you unfairly because they're assuming you're spoiled. That WOULD be out of line, rude, and unfair. But the only thing you mentioned was feeling awkward about money- that's entirely about your…
"Why do you feel like this an important problem?"
Whoever says that Merkel is in any way, shape or form the equivalent of Romney really has no idea about anything. Politics included but mostly anything. Get yourself some new friends.
And it made an even worse movie.
Susannah Dean, bad-ass gunslinger, who rescues all the guy's asses more than once. Although there are still issues with the character, she is one of my favorite King-created females.

It's mostly their fault for being assholes, but women share the burden when we stick around. Norman seems like a stand-in for all the men who mistreat women and how they always…
My huge issue w Kubrick is his repeatedly awful adaptations of great books. Also, I find his films to be repeatedly misogynistic.
shit-weasels if i remember correctly. but yes that terrified me as well
I have nothing constructive to add to this awesome comment other than thanks for bringing nuance and reflexivity to these comment threads. That's a fucking stellar comment
Completely and totally disagree with you about the "magical negro" bullshit.
In King's defense, The Stand was written in 1978 so some of Frannie's thinking wasn't that far off for the time. Maybe he could have rewritten some of it when he released the uncut edition in the early 90s but doing that probably would have altered her character too much.
"I honestly have more of an issue with his over-use of the "mystical/magical negro". And the Maineisms. They're not appropriate for all characters, sir. Oh, and the butt weasels. Those were unforgivable."
And the topiary! Don't forget the sinister, encroaching topiary!
"Butt weasels"?
