I remember watching that episode when it first aired and even as someone who had lost interest in the show by that point I was still pissed, Game of Thrones took a lot of lessons from that.

my sister gave up on LOST in season 3 and one of my high-school teachers lost interest as soon as the supernatural crap came up, some people just wanted a survival-drama on an island, not supernatural bullcrap.  I honestly liked the LOST video game more then any episode of the show.
