Possibly stupid, but they could be hedging their bet. OR isn’t manufacturing these things themselves, so their initial overhead on this first batch would then minimize risk. Then take into account the pricing fallout they obviously knew was coming. They announce pricing, people get upset, small batch sells out anyway…

The question is, how large was the first batch? 10, 100, 1000? It’s not hard to limit supply and then boast that you sold out in minutes...
