He would not have voted to confirm if they didn’t need his vote. Rand Paul loves to grandstand and “take a moral stance” against his party only when it has no chance of impacting his party’s ability to pass whatever legislation it is they are trying to pass or confirm whatever hack they want to confirm.

Scandal notwithstanding, if your primary issue is their financial picture the overall direction of their finances has been improving (2017 YE numbers aren’t out yet but from what I’ve read, they’ll continue to show improvement) and outside observers credit the current crop of adminstrators for making that happen.
