No, there is no 'combat' in the RPG, it's mostly fetch missions and such, puzzles. It's a sim.

I was being overdramatic. The games are not horrible games, I feel like SE just forgot how to tell a compelling story...the main purpose of RPGS.
Ugh...Armane put it PERFECTLY. That in a nutshell, but it's more a lack of faith in Square-Enix internal development. Dragon Quest's appeal is almost 100% rooted in it's ability to tell memorable stories...take that away, and what have you got?
Enjoy those old DQ games...thanks to Yoichi Wada, DQ is about to be destroyed much like Final Fantasy was. It begins now...DQX is the FFVII of the DQ series...from then on it's all destruction.
The whole series should be disregarded, not just the bad DS games. People only say they were bad because they didn't have good graphics(which is all KH is really about). KH is Final Fantasy for 9 year olds...LITERALLY. Never understood the popularity of this awfully shallow series.

I bought the non GOTY version cheap, but I could never get it to work on my computer. :-( I have the specs to run it, but some flaw in DirectX prevents it from launching.
^It's not as new as you think. People have actually been complaining about this hack since Final Fantasy VII. He ruined Final Fantasy IMO.
