That’s a valid point. I can rephrase: they believe that issues such as validating their racism (and their opposition to abortion) are more important to them, than the fact that they are otherwise voting against their own self-interests.

You often see those attitudes in posts on the former Gawker websites, in public as well as in the grays.

Giving money away is part of the neoliberal compromise. Since having the government give money directly away to, for example, arts organizations, is considered bad by small-government (and Scroogian types), the compromise is that charitable contributions are deductible. Or at least they were, until the lazy corrupt…

I stopped drinking milk when I was young. I am not officially lactose intolerant, but I also find that milk makes my innards uncomfortable. Plus, I just don’t care for it. I love ice cream, I do enjoy many cheeses, and I ate greek yogurt for breakfast this morning, so I do partake of many milk products.

It is a virtual guarantee that Pence will not be impeached and removed, absent the proverbial catching him in bed with a dead woman or a live boy.

Remember that impeachment is not intended to be partisan. It is not supposed to be a way to change policy. It is intended to remove someone who is unfit for and/or unworthy of the Presidency.

This is exactly what happened in the 1970s: VP Spiro Agnew was induced to resign in lieu of being arrested while VP. That cleared the way for inducing Nixon to resign with a competent and clean politician (Ford) to ascend to the presidency.
