Yep! I joined the NDP years back to help get Jack Layton in as leader. I think of primaries as a travelling leadership convention with different membership rules but the same intent.

To be fair, regular folks can become members of a party which gives them voting rights at leadership conventions.

It’s getting worse, isn’t it. My heart starts to rev when I read these things and I’m Canadian.

I want to toss in that I honestly feel that this is a worthwhile discussion to have and while it’s often hard to withstand a lot of criticism and stay civil your pov is a valuable one to hear. So thank you. (And I can see this reading as condescending but I don’t mean it that way.)

Agreed. I’m going through something like this right now and after 12 years of it I feel confident in my diagnosis of “I know you have a mood disorder and possibly a personality disorder and quite likely some trauma-related disorders to boot but this behaviour is ‘asshole’ and even the DSM-5 knows it.”
