Fix is for insurance companies to raise rates on these cars so that theft insurance is not affordable. Then people won’t buy them any more.

Why not buy Pendolino trains?

I read the article. It’s calculation of depreciation is nothing like your claim.

OK, you ignore the depreciation. But you are also ignoring the $22k (or more) that you paid for the car. The money went from your bank account, but somehow you don’t think it should be counted. What kind of accounting is this? The Enron version?

“See no evil, hear no evil ...”. Depreciation is a real thing. The depreciation on the average car over the first 10 years of its life is probably $2000 - $3000 per year. It’s clearly one of the largest costs of ownership and ignoring it doesn’t make it go away.

The article misses the fact that the complexity of public level 2 chargers is due to one factor, not considered at all: charging for charging. Part of the reason for their resistance to range loss may be because of their heat pumps, Recurrent’s CEO Scott Case told AutoNe

CCS lives on in the form of car <> charger communication protocol. NACS defines the physical and electrical characteristics of the charge plug and is agnostic about the communications. Teslas (both the cars and the Superchargers) will support both Tesla and CCS protocols.

No. The Miami Herald article states that he was the finance manager when he pulled the scam.

I believe California has laws on this. However, Nevada isn’t very far from much of California (and even in California, the lure of money may be stronger than the disincentive of the law).
