See, I have the opposite view. I found the gore to be "just right." It was enough to shock me and show me the stakes, but not so much that it broke the film's verisimilitude. A lot more gore and it would have started to feel grind house-y.

Uh, no. Saw is torture porn. Green Room is a siege movie a'la Assault of Precinct 13 with a fare amount of gore. Big difference.
AFI is one of those bands I never really got into, but am glad to see still out there doing their thing. "Girl's Not Grey" is one of those big "time and place" songs for me. I never owned the album, but if I catch it, I get zapped back to my later college days and the begining of the emo-era. I wasn't big on the sound…
Yeah, I really liked Dickie Barret in the morning. His B.S. dismissal by Indie103 still rankles me. How DARE he discuss politics!
My personal favorite was when he had Lemmy on. It was two cool, middle aged dudes with almost cartoonish accents, just talking shop. I could of listened to it for hours.
Prepare yourself for all sorts of Marlon Brando shinanigans, and those aren't even the best parts.
Then you MUST see "Lost Soul," which chronicles the making of the 90's Island of Dr. Moreau. It's on Netflix and is a gonzo story.
Definitely looking forward to Gorillaz, Beck (even if I'm "meh" towards the "Wow" single) and a few others on her, but right now I'm most pumped (well, besides Gorillaz; I'm super pumped for that) for Crystal Fairy and VUKOVI to drop their debuts. Crystal Fairy is a metal side project made up of members of Le…
"In the premiere of Taboo, Tom Hardy…" Aaaaand they have me. Will watch despite review.
You, sir, are the poorman's no one. With such an awesome user name, Brendan Frasier is the poorman's you.
I'm a an admitted Rush fanboy, but not in the sense that I will gloss over their weaker stuff with feigned enthusiasm but rather because even their weaker material really, really does it for me. With the exception of Presto, which has always been the one Rush album I could never get that into (and consequently the one…
2pac just doesn't quit. He's got the best work ethic I've ever seen in a dead man.
A hearty "nope" in reply, my good sir or madam.
Here's the deal people: Rush is the best band ever. Yeah, I know you want you say The Beatles or Black Sabbath or Radiohead or Zep or the Stones or whatever (though Radiohead can get bent after OK Computer). Bury me with a copy of Abbey Road and all that. But no band has the consistency of quality, has the mix of pure…
Fuck, now I want this too!
And the award for missing the Big Lebowski quote and thereby missing the point goes to you! Congratulations!
Nazis: Ruining cool shit for other white people since 1920.
True, somewhat relevant story: One day a few years back, when I was new to my current D&D group and thus still not well known to everyone in it, I wore a Dead Kennedys shirt to the game. One player who is black and gay looked at the logo, looked at me and said in a very neutral, controled voice, "Is that some kind of…
Tell you what, my sartorial choices had to adjust as well. Back in high school, I wore a lot of military surplus stuff, typically European, ordered from catalogs (I was "that guy"). Nowadays? Aside from a pair of Swiss alpenflague trousers that make good mosh pit pants and a pair of Doc Martens, I fly none of those…
Dude, I feel ya. White dude with a shaved head myself and a love of punk myself. The twist for me is that I have a BA in history, specifically European history, with Nazi Germany as my main focus. Anytime I find myself dropping Nazi knowledge on people, I have to stop and make a "No, I'm not a Nazi. Furtherest from,…
