While in the broadest sense you could lump them together, I think it's SO broad to do so that you lose all sense of specifity given that the actual styles are pretty different. Using a more pointed term like "indie-pop" better situates the sound within the spectrum of alternative/rock. If that term rubs you wrong

See, when I read the words "mainstream radio pop" I think Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Arriana Grande and that sort of thing.

Admittedly the term "indie-pop" is broad and I may be misapplying it, though I can't think of what else to call those bands.

Stuff like Foster the People, The Lumineers, Grouplove and Fun (my most hated of all). Where I live, this sound dominated the radio from roughly 2011-2015, though it does seem to be finally recededing though for what I can't really say. Not the worst music ever in-and-of itself, but boy oh boy did it wear thin for me

These bands were always arouse conflicted feelings for me: On one hand, they were never my thing. Though I heard them plenty on the radio and at college parties, I never felt compelled to buy any of their albums. Not Franz Ferdinand, not The Killers, not any of them. My tastes ran heavier. And yet, they were such an

I used to work delivery in that part of the SFV and a lot of the driveways are pretty steep, but given the mountainous terrain south of Ventura Blvd. (and I'd bet a fifty that is where he lived) there isn't much you can do about it.

I think there's pent up demand for heavier music, especially here in the US where the mainstream pretty much pushed anything heavy or hard rock-oriented out over the last decade (My Chemical Romance and the Emo scene was the last of anything at all you could call heavy). Some folks I talk to just brush it off as a

I have no beef with the Peppers (though I don't think they've put a truly good album out since BSSM) but if it makes you feel any better, younger folks seem to be rediscovering a lot of worthy 90's acts the last few years. The crowds I've seen for bands like Faith No More, L7, Hum and Failure have had a surprising

Scream, Dracula, scream!

Birdman kicked my ass.

I feel you. Anytime a grown adult brings up how they grew up with Pokemon, my brain goes, "Say whaaaaaaat?"

I'm neutral on Jimmy Eat World (though, okay, Bleed American takes me back), but you're getting an upvote for the name. Glad to know I'm not alone in recognizing the glory of Pearl.

Rock over London, rock on Chicago… Wheaties, the Breakfast of Champions.

Much. I liked Adore Life, but agree that Silence Yourself was a stronger album. However, seeing them live on this tour they were just on fire. I saw them twice during the Silence Yourself era, but neither of those shows could touch the most recent one. The Adore Life tracks play just as strong as the Silence Yourself

Hope all is okay in the Savages camp. They've been on fire live lately. I'd hate to see them trip off their game (for whatever reason) when they've been upping it as a band.

Word. When I saw Lapis hair this ep I thought, "Dang, that's some awesome hair. Some much lift and volume."

When I first saw her Melissa was, to my teenage mind, the most beautiful woman in the world. All these years later I'm still cool with that appraisal. Of course, it will be a surprise to no one that I've got a thing for gingers.

Hell, I'm still in my bunk all these years later…

In other news, my mom keeps banging on my door and telling me to go get a life.

Oh Melissa Auf Der Maur… You never stopped being my teenage fanboy crush.

As though that's a bad thing… *Cranks up Three Cheers*
