I think in general that would work but all paperwork would still have to be in your legal name. I wouldn’t think you could get a credit card on your social name- some places check ID and it wouldn’t match.

I think a lot of people still hold marriage as a life goal and there is nothing wrong with that. If it is not a big deal, at least people get the tax incentives, visitation rights, right of attorney, etc.
