It probably sounds stupid, but one of the reasons I’m not going back to Tesla is because there’s no CarPlay. I’m just so used to having easy access to the podasts, music, Siri functionality in the car, and it’s frustrating that Elon is stubborn about such irrational things.

According to the Autocar article Porsche wanted to do it this way for safety reasons as some of the updates directly impact how the car functions.

Last year, a driver in Germany crashed his Tesla while trying to adjust his wiper speed. He got his license suspended for operating an electronic device while driving.(on the Tesla, that is done on the touchscreen, and can take several seconds)

So I’m wondering, with all the laws passed about “No texting and driving”, how does having the whole center console being a touchscreen affect it? Isn’t it as dangerous to look at a giant touchscreen to do something as it is a small one, especially one with button layouts that vary depending on which screen you’re on?
